Today I made the most amazing Monte Cristo sandwich for lunch .The amazing triple berry delight preserves from the Thornburg and Company took this sandwich to a whole new level . These preserves are fresh and vibrant and full of amazing flavor (yum!) They taste like the berries just came from the garden! Nothing like the stuff you buy at the stores. Make sure you don’t skimp on the ingredients since there are only a few in the sandwich so you want the best ingredients you can get.
This sandwich is so simple and easy to make, The Monte Cristo is an American version of the croque monsieur made with Ham and Gruyere and battered like French toast!! If that’s not already amazing enough, it is topped with powdered sugar and served with berry preserves (don’t skimp on cheap preserves make sure to buy the good stuff like I have here) for dipping to play the sweet off the salty from the Ham and cheese.
This is the really the perfect sandwich to make on a cold day with it’s warmth and richness! So easy to make and so delicious, my mantra!
Can you see that gruyere dripping out of the sandwich, yum!!!
